Here are some common questions about the ESDC
What courses do you offer?
At the moment we have the European Safer Driver Course – Ireland version. We’re launching first in Ireland because we’re Irish. For Ireland we will soon have “Rules of the Road” and “Speed Awareness Courses”. The ESDC for the rest of the Europe is being produced.
When will the ESDC be in my Country?
We will be launching the UK version in the Spring of 2017, with Spain, Italy, France and Germany to follow before the end of 2017.
Can anyone take the course?
Yes. Even if you haven’t passed your driving test you can still use our course to help you become a safer driver when you do get on the road.
How long does the course take?
The 9 modules within the European Safer Driver Course contain approximately 3 hours of content. When you factor in the time to digest the information, plus the assessments, you can expect the entire programme to take you about 6 hours.
How do I know if I'm progressing?
The system automatically records your progress for you. You can view your progress on the module home pages,
Do I need to save my work?
There’s no need. The system remembers for you.
Do I have to complete the course in one go?
No. You can complete the course in your own time at your own pace. You can complete the course over as many log in sessions as you want. If you do want to, you can of course complete the entire course in one session.
Is there a time limit to complete the course?
You must complete the course within 180 days from the date of purchase.
What's the difference between a Quiz and an Assessment?
As you progress through the modules, you’ll be asked a number of quiz questions within the course. These quiz questions are not graded and are simply there for you to check your understanding and reinforce the learning.
Assessment questions are separate and are completed at the end of each Chapter. These questions count towards your Certification. Don’t worry, we’ll make it very clear when you’re about to take an assessment.
How long do the assessments take?
The length of the assessment varies from Chapter to Chapter. Typically an assessment will take you 5 minutes and contains 5 to 10 questions.
How do you know it's me taking the assessment?
Before you take an assessment in a session, we’ll text a 6 digit verification code to your mobile phone. Simply enter this code on the screen to begin your assessment. This way we, and your insurer, knows that it’s you that has completed the course.
No credit or completion will be given if the course is completed by anyone other than you or if you are assisted by an outside party. When you enroll in the course you are stating that you, and not another person, studied the material in its entirety and completed that chapter assessments. By registering for the course, you understand that it may be an offence to make false statements or to falsify documents submitted by your insurer.
Where do the assessment questions come from?
All questions are taken from a pool of questions relating to that chapter. Two people completing the course may get different questions from the pool. If you retake any assessments it’s possible you may also see different questions the second time around.
What score do I need to pass?
You must receive a total score of 90% to pass the course and get the European Safer Driver Certification.
How many attempts can I have at each assessment?
You can take the assessments as often as you like.
Is it possible to fail the course?
Only if you don’t complete all of the assessments. If you complete all of them but have scored less than 90% in total. You simply revisit the sections where you need to improve your score.
Do I have to take a final exam?
No. The assessments at the end of each chapter count towards your total.
How do I get my Certificate?
One you’ve passed, you can view your Certificate via your Dashboard.
What is my Dashboard?
Your Dashboard shows you your progress in each module, your score for each module and your total score. Once you score 90% or more, you can view your European Safer Driver Certificate there also.
